Studio furniture maker, Jose Regueiro Jr., uses milk paint over solid hardwood and then finishes with several coats of hand rubbed satin polyurethene to create impressive functional furniture.

Since opening his studio in 1981, his work has been exhibited at the Detroit Institute of Arts and El Museo Del Barrio in New York. He’s written an article about his furniture for Home Furniture (magazine), Issue #11, July 1997, and has recently been featured in the new Latino/Hispanic Archive of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

“This paint allows me to blend unique and beautiful colors and to achieve the subtle textures and nuances only milk paint can provide.” He adds, “the organic nature of hand-brushed milk paint makes my minimalist furniture come alive, giving every piece great personality.”
