I seriously cant get enough of this color!! I have painted so many things this new color over the last week or two! Its so fresh and clean and just makes me happy. I want to bring this color in to every room of my house…i’ve already painted and repurposed an old door for my bedroom in this color, i will be sure to show that soon.
So my new favorite color….YELLOW!! Ive had so much trouble trying to find the perfect yellow, and ive finally tracked it down. Its not to mustardy…not to gold…not to babyish…not to bright…just a perfect shade of warm, buttery, sunshiney yellow, all bottled up in a paint can. This perfect color is called White Raisin by Sherwin Williams.
Here are just a few things that ive painted this new yellow over the week…
Piano Bench…
Chair…
The cutest little scalloped side table…
And one of my favorites, a yellow desk with the funnest knobs…
What do you think? Have i found the perfect yellow?! I think i have :)
All these items are up for sale in the Sweet Pickins Shop…along with some other new listings, so be sure to check them out.

I LOVE that color! Yellow is so hard to get right. I remember the time I tried to get that shade of yellow for my kitchen only to end up with a greenish undertone that looked like snot after 5 pm every day! ACK!
Awesome! I’ve been looking for a good yellow! And apparently we are on the same wavelength. I did an almost identical desk a couple of months ago (only pink) exact same knobs and all! Lovely as always :D
I’m in love with that color also! You have a gift with color. I was wondering about the wood piece on the wall, did you make it? I’ve been wanting to make something like that with pallet slats for my entry….above my long church pew (we call it the repentance bench). haha
Love your blog and I’m following you via Bloglovin. yeehaw!
ya, its just some old barn wood i got from my grandma and then attached it to the wall :)
Thank you! I have been looking for a yellow color too. I can’t get enough of yellow either. Thank you! Love it!
I too think you may have found the perfect yellow. So soft looking. Love what you have painted.

Yellow is a tough color but when you get it right it is wonderful! You got it right & it is beautiful!
Love that color, and your site! I owned two flower shops and both were painted that color on the interior. It complemented, not competed against, all the flowers.
Oh, and it’s ‘too’ gold, ‘too’ bright, etc. Sorry, it’s wannabe English teacher in me trying to get out! Lol
Proper english is so not my thang ;)
I love the yellow :) Looks awesome!
You know I LOVE yellow. I am glad its contagiouse. All your yellow pieces are SO CUTE.
So awesome! I’ve been looking for a good yellow (I agree they’re hard to find). And I’m loving desk. We must be on the same wavelength, I did an almost identical one, right down to the hardware, a couple of months ago and loved it so much I decided to keep it. Lovely as always!
I love that hardware!! The pink you used on your desk is so pretty :)
You are right, that yellow is lovely! I have been wanting to add a few yellow pieces to my home and now you have inspired me! I love that chair!!
I can’t believe I won! Thanks Sausha!
P.S. love the yellow furniture!
That is a pretty yellow, love it. I also like the yellow you used on your webpage font. Can you find a name for it?
sorry – i dont know the font,i had someone else design it for me
Hi. Although I have read your blog many times, newbie to comment today.
Wow …. I love your designs Sausha!! Talk about talent. Amazing. I want to do that! Ha.
At the moment I have sooo many (old!) family pieces/things that need desperate updating. A cane loveseat I purchased many years ago for only $79.00! I remember when and where too! It has plenty of life left but needs some love.
I inherited many pieces of my grandmother’s furniture. Her very old (white) rocker needs new fabric coverings/padding ….. also, the wicker needs a fresh coat of paint. That will be a big job because the chair is very old-fashioned and big.
Lots of other things I must fixup too. Not sure I know how or what to do though. One msut get the paints and everything else perfectly right. Will try this summer.
My parents were much like yours. Dad especially. He fixed everything in our house. I cannot remember ever having someone do repairs. We did have painters. That was always a huge job.
All the pale yellow furnishings you spruced up are wonderful. Goes with most any room!
Your family is sooo fortunate to have such a talented artist for a mommy!
ahh – your so sweet!! thanks so much!!
You are right….what a perfect shade of yellow!!!! What brand and shade is it? Love all your new pieces … beautiful!
its white raisin by sherwin williams
I love the color and the furniture looks stunning in it..Great job..
The yellow is perfect for adding sunshine to any room. Luv, Luv, Luv!!!!
I love this color too. Great pieces and the color looks amazing.
Vanessa
Oh My!! That is the perfect yellow! I see why you’ve decided to go wild with it!
Love, love, love the yellow. I also wanted to know the name and brand–I see someone else asked for it. But what kind do you use–flat , satin, gloss, etc. ? And what kind of finish or sealer do you use? Thanks for the inspiration. Hope to have my own beautiful, sunny yellow things soon!
its sherwin williams white raisin, and i normally get it in a satin. SW has tons of different paint products, anyone of them is good. For the sealer, i like woodclassics by sherwin williams.
Love that color – so happy!
I’m new to following blogs and to refinishing furniture. I love your blog, and I love the yellow you’ve shared with us. In the three items that you show here, do you add any glaze to achieve the finished look, or do you “simply” prime, paint yellow, distress, and then clear finish to protect the areas that you’ve exposed through distressing? Still working up the nerve to do my first project. Thanks!
thanks!! Nope, there is no glaze on any of these, just like you said, prime, paint and then clear coat :)
Hi! Just curious, do you use a tinted primer for the darker color that shows underneath the yellow?
yup, i have my primer tinted to a dark brown color :)
You got it! Yellow has always been my fav color in many hues but a true yellow cannot be too bright nor can it look like cream. You hit the nail on the head…I gotta get me some of that! I’ve gone through so many in my life and now I live so far from paint that I can’t afford to pick the wrong color! Thank you sharing it and for doing the work for us.. You’re a sweetie!
I just found your blog today and I have been searching for the perfect yellow forever. I was so excited to see this! Wonderful job and I love your blog!
Welcome!!
Love your site!!! Awesome. Never done this before, but wondering what color of
brown you have your primer tinted, since there are soooo many brown colors.
You have a God given talent that very few people have. We are enjoying it,
too!!!!
thanks so much!!
My primer is tinted to Safari Brown, its actually a Valspar color but Sherwin Willaims has matched it.
I absolutely love this yellow and your website! You have given me some excellent inspiration! I looked at the SW website and the white raisin swatch looks more brown …. until seeing your furniture, I would never had tried this paint! I just picked up a wood desk and chair for my daughter’s room and this yellow will look just lovely against her purple walls. This is my first try at something like this – I read that you first prime with a tinted brown primer (so a liquid you paint on) and then spray paint the white raisin. Next you distress and then finish with a clear coat. Is the clear coat also a spray? Wish me luck!
good luck!! Yes, all my primer, paint and clear coat comes in a paint can, but i have a paint sprayer and spray everything on :)
now that we have all the paint secrets ;-) what kind of paint sprayer do you use? i would love to get one, but would like to get the “right” one the first time! lol thanks :-)
i use a graco 7.0 hvlp sprayer – LOVE IT!!
I fell in love with your pictures of the yellow furniture so I went to Sherwin Williams this morning & bought the paint :) so far my night stands are looking good! Thanks!
I recently painted my two story family and foyer with SW white raisin. Went with it for all the same reasons– it’s vibrant, crisp and solid. It looks great with my mahagoney and cherry furrniture. The woodwork is white and really pops. The color is almost like a neutral because it goes with everthing.
Your site is wonderful.
Thanks for sharing!
This yellow colour looks very pretty but I went to the paint store to order it and White Raisin looked a very brown beige. Are you sure this is the colour you’ve been using? Does it look more brown in the colour swatch than in person?
Thanks
haha!! yup it is! Thats why yellow is so tricky – the paint swatch looks perfect until you get it on and then its so bright! so choosing one that looks more beige/brown will give you that perfect creamy yellow – im on my 3rd gallon of it now!
Eeep!! Good to know. I ordered a bright yellow instead. Fingers crossed it doesn’t turn fluorescent on my piece!
what sheen of paint did you use?
I most always use a satin or a semi gloss
Love the Yellow! About to tackle a project of some nightstands in this color. Couple questions wondering if you could answer.
1) We are refinishing a dark stained nightstand. So to confirm the steps – Sand with 220, prime with tinted primer, paint with yellow, distress (sand off yellow to expose brown), and then clear coat? Correct?
2) Do you use a tinted lacquer or is it an acrylic/latex type product. Which do you prefer?
Thanks for sharing your talents!
I love this color! About to tackle some nightstands and had two questions I hoped you could answer
1. We are planning to refinish a currently dark stained nightstand. Just to confirm the steps are: sand with a 220 paper for prep, prime with the tinted primer, paint with the color, distress (sand off yellow to expose brown primer), then clear coat? Correct?
2. Do you use a lacquer based product or acrylic/latex? Which do you prefer? And the same for all three applications correct? (Primer, paint, clear)
Thanks
yup, those are the correct steps! I most always use water based paint, i use sherwin williams solo paint. And yes, the same for all three (paint, primer, clear)
Love it and who would of thought with a name like white raisin. Just purchase a cute little end table I may have to give it a try on. Just did my daughters wedding and her colors were gray/yellow, now I’m in love with those colors. Beautiful pieces. New to your blog.
Thanks.
Kim
yes it is a funny name!!
What a great color!!! When I went to the site i have to say, looking at the yellow pallettes all together and then highlighting “white raisin”, the swatch does NOT look like it would be such a pleasant soft yellow…more beige-ish, yellow. Idk. I got so excited when I saw ur blog but the computer might be off on the swatch…guess u should trust the painted outcome!
the swatch def looks different on the computer than in person – even in person it looks more beige – but it turns out to be the most perfect yellow :)
Perfect yellow! Thanks for sharing!
Love love love! Do you use the same color tinted primer for every color you do? I just painted an old sewing machine that I got at a garage sale a turquoise color but I can’t get the look you have. Is it better to sand by hand or use a sander? Also did a cute little table a pinky salmon color but again not looking how I wanted it to. Love your ideas and colors etc!
This is gorgeous!!! What kind of desk is that? Do you think it has a certain name?
Hello can you plaese right what number or name of the color yellow you use?
