One project down, 999,324 to go….
This was a super easy fix to a boring plain jewelry box. I picked up this little chunk of a box for $10 @ goodwill – good bones but the color just wasn’t working for me. All i did was paint her white – gave her a good sanding and a new place to live – i am just cool like that ;)
I’ve had a couple of questions about how i distress my furniture and this is my tool of choice…..a 60 grit sand block…oh yeah…
I almost never pre-sand anything – i have in the past and have learned that it really doesn’t make a difference. Then i just paint with regular good ol’ latex paint – i prefer valspar from lowes. This time i just did 2 coats of white paint with a brush and then sanded all the edges. To me, the more distressing the better – i LOVE the way it looks, it really brings out all the details of the wood that normally you don’t see. And yes, i even painted the handles, i was lazy like that – i mean i like the all white look.
So remember the before….
After…ahhhh, so much better
I gave her a sweet little place to live on my nightstand – right next to the flowers that my husband sent me all the way from Iraq – “just because” flowers – the very best kind :)
Notice my room? Well i have a couple of little projects going on in there – more to come on that.
i will be linking up to these parties…
Oh my gosh, Sausha, I LOVE it! I never imagined it would look so good! It looks perfect on the nightstand. PS LOVING the frame thingies above the bed. :)
It looks ace Sausha. Great job and I love the paint colour on the bedroom walls.

I love this!!! Your room looks like it belongs in a magazine!!
I'm new to your blog and I'm loving it!!!

It's so beautiful!! I have an old jewelry box that I've been meaning to paint for months. Now I'll have to get on it!!
Looks fabulous!
Your room doesn't look like it needs any new "projects". It's already perfect! No fair! Come do my room!
Oh, and this is a really funny question, but since you posted a picture of your nightstand I think I'll ask anyway. In all the bedroom pictures I see out on craft blogs I never see a clock/alarm clock on any of them. Do people just tuck them away for pictures or is there some other "fun/decor savvy" way of having an alarm clock in a bedroom? :) Told you this was a random question.
Seriously that is fabulous! I can't wait to see what else you do:)
Love it. I also love the paint colour in the bedroom wall, and I also love the "just because" flowers. So sweet :)
I can't even tell you how excited I am that you posted this project. After seeing you post your original before, it made me realize I had a hidden gem to work with. My thought was to do exactly what you've done and it will go perfectly with my new bathroom (in-process makeover). Now I know how it will look! (That is considering I can do as good a job as you did.) How cool is that?
Love it! Thanks for sharing.
I agree with Katie! What exactly is the paint color in your bedroom?
LOVE it!!!!
Love it, I'm going to be on the lookout for one of these babies. thaks for the inspiration.
I LOVE it!!……I've been wanting to give my old jewelry box a make over…….think I will give it a go!!
